Camino Merle

groceries – at the bottom of the street are two large supermarkets, Consum and Lidl. Both open Monday to Saturday from 9:00 AM to 9:30 PM.  During the high season Consum is also open on Sundays.

Outside the high season only Supermercado Troya is open on Sundays (also Tabaco) and at this gas station there is a small shop where chips, beer etc. are sold.

There are two restaurants within walking distance of the house

  • Bar El Campus – nice cozy terrace, tasty sandwiches, tapas, burgers and ice creams.
  • Folixa Asador Sidreria – a mecca for the meat lover; lots of good meat. Truly traditional Spanish in terms of decor; TV is always on and fluorescent light.

waste – there is a waste collection point on the corner of the street, towards Bar El Campus. You can dispose of your residual waste in the green containers. There is a glass container, there is a yellow container for plastic bottles and a blue container for cardboard / paper. No waste is collected.

airports – if you come by plane you can fly to either Alicante or Valencia. From both airports it is about a 1 hour and 15 minutes drive to Casa Merle 26.

The beach of Xabia/Javea is a 15 minute drive away and has a boulevard and cafe terraces directly on the beach.

historical center of Denia

close to the center of Denia – our house is within walking/cycling distance of the old historic center of Denia.

Don’t feel like walking/cycling? no problem, Denia has a huge parking garage in the center, parking La Via. Taxis are also very affordable in Spain. Taxi +34 965 786 565 also has vans.

Denia has a large pedestrian shopping street with well-known chain stores, but in the old center you will also find many small streets with nice shops, restaurants and many terraces. And as in any self-respecting city in Spain, Denia also has a covered market. De Mercado Municipal (in Calle Magallanes) is open Monday to Saturday from 8am to 3pm.

Castle of Denia – the castle of Denia is the symbol of the city. Nice to visit, for more info visit https://www.denia.com/en/castillo/

Don’t forget Els Magazinos, these former warehouses have been transformed into a long food hall with something for everyone. Very cozy, especially in the evening until the small hours!

Montgo massif

in our backyard you can see the Montgo, a protected natural area with cliffs, caves, cave paintings and remnants of Iberian and Arab settlements. The Montgo massif is also called the ‘sleeping elephant’, the long and low foothills from the mountain to the sea resemble an elephant’s trunk.
